COMMISSION ON AGING
The
Commission on Aging advises the Recreation
and Parks
Department on community matters of senior citizen interest such as recreation,
social and nutritional services. Meetings are held at 12:00 noon on the 2nd
Monday of the month at the Supporting our mission to "enhance

social and health services as well as leisure activities are provided that

provides seniors with an information center that shares community resources
and refers seniors to services of many different kinds. The staff is
available to offer assistance in the area of health, housing, education and

A variety of health professionals provide screening
as a special service for seniors 55 or older visiting the An advance
directive is a legal document that expresses a person’s health care
wishes in advance, and is to be used should that person become incapacitated
and unable to express those wishes. It
carries ethical, moral, and legal weight, and doctors/health care providers
are obligated to follow it.
Kings/Tulare Area Agency on Aging Community Service Specialists are available to assist in completion of the CAHCD at the AARP Driver Safety Program This driver's
education class is for those over the age of 55 will include discussion on
what the effects are of aging and medication on driving. Basic driving
rules, license renewal, local traffic hazards and accident prevention will be
covered. This course is approved
by the Department of Motor Vehicle.

Senior Softball This program offers an
opportunity for recreation, exercise and some friendly competition. Most
importantly, the program has modified rules which emphasize physical safety.
So come and have some fun on the ball diamond. League play begins March
through October. This is a 55+ and a 63+ league which will afford an opportunity
to play against some of the best players in the area! A team fee of $300 plus
