Tulare Family Karate

Be active together … Participants will learn the techniques of Tae Kwon Do, the Korean form of Karate.  Instructor Frank Guerrero has 38 years of Karate experience.  He will teach self -defense techniques in a non- competitive atmosphere with emphasis placed on self-discipline, respect for others, self-confidence and family participation.  One PARENT FREE with one paid child!

Parent and Child Exercise Class

 

MC900056679[1]This class is a for a parent and child working together to create a bond through exercise and health smart choices.  Children 4-12 years with a parent will enjoy duo drills where you will achieve coordination, cardio conditioning and balance.  Spend special time with your child without the distractions from household chores, ringing phones, TV or other siblings.  Each week a health smart flyer will be handed out to help parents and children work together to encourage a healthy lifestyle.

TEEN/ADULT TENNIS INSTRUCTION

Remember, STEP UP TO HEALTH! IT STARTS IN THE PARKS. Have fun and stay fit with tennis. Learn the basic skills, rules of the game and court etiquette. Students must wear tennis shoes and provide their own racket. Tennis balls will be provided. For more information, call 684-4313.

LINE DANCE


Line dance is choreographed dance with a repeated sequence of steps in which a group of people dance in one or more lines or rows.  Join the fun and learn the electric slide, grapevine, weave, shuffle step, chasse and many more.  For more information, call 684-4315.

YOGA       

The goal
of this class will be to challenge students with strength, flexibility, and balance poses leading to a more relaxed state of being.  A brief explanation of yoga philosophy will be given so that there is some understanding of breath and movement as it relates to yoga poses.  This course will include the basic yoga poses.  Beginning with a 3-5 minute centering exercise to focus the mind and body, the class will move into sun salutation poses to warm up the major muscle groups.  The class will continue to build on these poses requiring more strength anf flexibility and end with a final relaxation pose.  Modifications and/or more advanced poses will be incorporated into the class as needed.

POLICIES

·        Activities and classes are limited in size. Registration will be taken on a first-come, first-serve basis.

·        Classes that do not draw the minimum enrollment by the registration deadline will be canceled. Please make every effort to register on time so a class will not be canceled unnecessarily.

·        Children must be required age by the first day of class.

·        No one but registered participants will be allowed in class, unless otherwise indicated by staff.

·        The liability release on the registration form must be signed in compliance with City policy.

REFUNDS
It is department policy to not allow refunds once registration is accepted by the Department, unless the class is canceled by the Department.

WAITING LISTS
Once registration for an activity has reached its limit, a waiting list will be established.

ACCESSIBILITY
The Recreation and Parks Department is committed to provide reasonable services and opportunities for those with special challenges and needs. If you require special accommodations for participation in our programs or in the use of our facilities, please call the Department office at 684-4310.

LOW INCOME RECREATIONAL OPPORTUNITIES
You may qualify for a reduced fee through this program. Stop by our Department office for an application.
